Today I had the great pleasure of presenting an ABRSM Grade 2 Merit certificate to my pupil Vinh.

Vinh played a wonderful programme consisting of Gambarini: Minuet in A (from Lessons for the Harpsichord, Op. 2), Plé: Le chant du pâtre (No. 11 from Les chants et les jeux), Anne Crosby Gaudet: Angelfish and finishing with Hässler: Ecossaise in G (No. 23 from 50 pièces à l’usage des commençans, Op. 38).

The examiners notes were a pleasure to read: Gambarini: Minuet in A (from Lessons for the Harpsichord, Op. 2) “You played with a good tempo and dynamic colourings… The balance was successful and you played with mostly shaped phrases.”, Plé: Le chant du pâtre (No. 11 from Les chants et les jeux) “…you played with lovely interaction between the two hands and your phrases were shaped musically.”, Anne Crosby Gaudet: Angelfish “You played with good balancing… It was nevertheless musically shaped.” Hässler: Ecossaise in G (No. 23 from 50 pièces à l’usage des commençans, Op. 38) “The articulation was nevertheless crisp and you played with good balancing.”

Summing up the performance “There was a sense of performance… The programme was largely interpreted.”

I would like to thank Vinh for his hard work as we finalised the preparation in the lead-up to the exam and also his parents for having confidence in me to teach him. Congratulations!
