John Thompson’s superb Easiest Piano Course books are charming! This is a enjoyable yet comprehensive step-by-step course specifically designed to suit the needs of beginners of all ages learning the piano. I have used this method successfully with many students over the years. The exercises follow a logical progression, introducing new concepts in a fun way. The course starts with relatively simple songs but they let the pupil listen to harmony and develop their harmonic hearing and sense of rhythm.
I do adapt lessons to each individual and introduce other concepts and musical terms I think appropriate depending on how quickly each pupil progresses, but overall the course is well thought out and has been used for many years all over the world.
