Congratulations to my pupil Pierce who recently passed his ABRSM Piano, Performance Grade 5 exam with distinction.

Pierce chose a lovely programme consisting of Haydn: Andante in A, Hob. I:53/II, T. Kirchner: Plauderei (No. 1 from Plaudereien, Op. 60), Farrenc: Étude in A minor (No. 2 from 25 études faciles, Op. 50) and finished with Prokofiev: Lentamente (No. 1 from Visions fugitives, Op. 22).

The examiner’s notes were a pleasure to read, for example: Farrenc: An elegant, tenderly toned melody sang out stylishly above accompaniment. This was almost entirely firm in rhythms… The phrases were gracefully shaped and this moved with a keen sense of the character, winding down elegantly.”, Performance as a whole: A strong sense of performance and of personal commitment in the playing featured across the programme.”

I would like to thank Pierce for his hard work as we finalised the preparation in the lead-up to the exam and also his parents for having confidence in me to teach him.
