I have some exciting updates to share with you today.
New Digital Piano
I have added a new digital piano to my piano studio. This will add considerable new dynamics to lessons. For example, if I need to demonstrate how to play a particular piece or difficult section in a piece, play accompanying parts or even play pieces for two pianists (four-hands).
Don’t worry though, we will still use my beautiful Kawai piano for the majority of your lesson but switching over to the digital will allow us to work with the new features on the website.
New Website Features
After months of planning and a lot of hard work I am happy to be finally able to tell you all about what I have been working on.
Track you lesson bookings
When you sign in to your account and book lessons, you will be able to see a list of your future bookings.
Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Why don’t I see my upcoming lessons listed correctly?
A: Please make sure you are logged into your account when booking lessons so that they appear on your list.
Using the new digital piano, we will be able to make recordings of you playing and save them into your workbook. You can play back the recordings at home or when you are visiting friends and family to let them listen to how you are progressing.
Having a digital record of your playing as you progress with your piano lessons will be fantastic. You’ll be able to listen to your early recordings and those that are more recent and be able to hear your progress.
You will also be able to upload and store safely any recordings you make at home. Perhaps you want me to listen to a piece you are having difficulty with; upload it and we can discuss in your next class. Or you may just want somewhere to store your recordings to play them back where and whenever you want… go ahead, upload them!
There is also a section in your workbook where I can place PDF sheet music that I would like you to work on between lessons. You can download and print at home for your practice sessions. You can also upload sheet music if you would like me to help you learn to play it or simply for secure storage.
It’s so easy to use, even I can do it! But, of course, I will be on hand to help you with any questions you have about your new Workbook.
All students will be issued with a username and initial password (which you should change) and we can record something you play and upload it to your Workbook.
Frequently Asked Questions
Q: I am a parent who brings children to lessons, is this private?
A: Yes, each student has their own Workbook and you cannot access the Workbook of other students. Access is secured by your password and, even then, access to your files is behind a mind-boggling complex encryption scheme, that I don’t understand, but am assured that there is no way around it.
Q: You say I can store recordings or sheet music in my Workbook, but how safe is it?
A: All files that you or I place in your Workbook are backed up to a secure cloud storage service and even if you accidentally delete something, there is a short window where deleted files can be recovered. A bit like the Recycle Bin on computers.
Q: How much does this cost?
A: It is free for all of my students.
I have something else planned for your Workbook that I will be introducing in the near future. Stay tuned for more details.
Finally, please let me have your feedback, comments and suggestions about the new features in the Leave a Reply section below.
