Many congratulations to Gabrielle, who has achieved a Distinction in her ABRSM Grade 2 Piano Performance exam!

She performed a delightful and varied programme:

  • Barbara Arens: Sparkling Splashes & Smooth Water (from The Mermaid Challenge)

  • Alexis Ffrench: The Singing Swan

  • Pete Letanka: Way Out West

  • Kabalevsky: A Little Song (No. 2 from 30 Children’s Pieces, Op. 27)

The examiner praised Gabrielle’s secure playing, balance between the hands, and her ability to convey style and character across very different pieces. Sparkling Splashes & Smooth Water had clarity and energy, while The Singing Swan showed graceful phrasing and a lovely light touch. Way Out West brought confidence and jazz-inspired flair, and A Little Song was full of expression and musical detail.

Overall, her performance was described as stylish, musical, and confidently delivered – with a clear sense of character throughout.
