I have recently been receiving enquiries from pupils studying for one of the ABRSM diplomas asking if I can help them prepare for their exams. The answer is yes, of course I can help with all aspects of diploma preparation including instrumental Recital, Viva Voce, Written assignment and Quick study requirements.

Studying at this level requires considerable investment in time from both you and your teacher but if you are seriously considering a a career in music, are currently working as a professional and wish to broaden your qualifications, or are purely after the satisfaction of achieving a personal goal, then you will be prepared for this already after working through grades 1 to 8. The ARSM diploma bridges the gap between grade 8 and DipABRSM.

ABRSM diplomas offer varied routes to professional qualification for a wide range of musicians, including performers, teachers and directors and are available in three subject areas –

  • Music performance
  • Instrumental / vocal teaching
  • Music direction

– with each subject having three levels of award –

  • DipABRSM: Diploma of the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music
  • LRSM: Licentiate of the Royal Schools of Music
  • FRSM: Fellowship of the Royal Schools of Music

Benefits of taking an ABRSM diploma include receiving an internationally recognised letter-bearing qualification. broadening your musical horizons, gaining feedback on your skills and abilities before choosing an advanced specialism at a higher education institution.

As each student will choose their own approach to the programme they will perform and present to the exam board, lessons at this level will be very individual and concentrate on your chosen submissions.

You will need at least one hour per week working with me and, as your exam date approaches, two hours per week would be sensible.

I have updated my book online page to add the possibility of booking lessons at this level of study but only in the one hour lesson slots.

I would be pleased to discuss your programme with you before you make a booking. My number is at the top of the page. If I am busy teaching when you call, please leave a message and I will call you back when I am free.

If you would like to take your very first piano lesson or add to your existing piano education, please book a lesson with me today, you can book online.
